My name is John Armato. I’m a guitar and lute player in Clarksburg, Maryland, just outside Washington D.C I’ve been playing the guitar since I was 14. I started playing rock guitar, self taught, then moved to classical guitar where I seem to have found my place. I’ve been playing classical guitar for over 25 years now and have earned my BM degree from the Peabody Conservatory.

Over the years I’ve had the pleasure of performing all over the united states and several concert tours throughout Taiwan and Japan.

I love to teach guitar and help others find the joy in this instrument that my mentors helped me find. I know learning the guitar can be challenging, especially if you’re using an app or following youtube videos. They move too slow, they move too fast, they don’t answer the questions you have. This is where having a live instructor sitting with you will help ease the frustration and guide you to fluent playing.

COVID-19 LESSON UPDATE

In light of the recent Covid-19 virus, I am teaching all my lessons online via FaceTime or Zoom. Once things have calmed down and getting back to normal I’ll be holding regular lessons in my home again. But please don’t hesitate to call and get your online lessons set up with me!
